SCOR’s aim, as an independent global reinsurance company, is to develop its Life and P&C business lines, to provide its clients with value-added solutions and to pursue an underwriting policy based on profitability, through effective risk management and a cautious investment policy. In this way, SCOR offers its clients an optimal level of security and creates value for its shareholders.
The Group’s strategy is based on a development model driven by three entities: SCOR Global P&C (Property and Casualty reinsurance), SCOR Global Life (Life reinsurance), and SCOR Global Investments (asset management).
A triple-engine Group
The Group is organised around two main businesses, SCOR Global P&C (Property and Casualty reinsurance) and SCOR Global Life (Life reinsurance), plus an asset management business, SCOR Global Investments.
SCOR Global P&C and SCOR Global Life are leading global reinsurers, executing an underwriting policy focused on profitability, developing value-added services and adhering to a cautious financial policy in order to meet the expectations of their clients in terms of security.
Thanks to its two main business lines, the Group is active throughout the world, which means it can serve the interests of both its French and international clients as effectively as possible. The P&C and Life sectors contribute in equal measure to the Group’s success, providing it with stability and guaranteeing lower volatility.
SCOR Global P&C has a strong presence on the European markets and is well positioned in Latin America, Asia and the Middle East. In the Americas, SCOR generates almost one fifth of its Non-Life revenues.
SCOR Global P&C maintains business relations with some 1,500 clients in Treaty business and 1,400 Large Corporate clients. The company manages a diversified portfolio, with a balance of emerging and developing markets as well as more mature markets.
SCOR Global Life ranks among the top five life reinsurers in the world and is the market leader in the US, based on recurring new business production and in-force volume. By providing solutions to life insurers’ financial and risk management needs and thus contributing to their business success, SCOR Global Life endeavors to be its clients’ life reinsurer of choice.
SCOR Global Life counts some 1,900 clients. Over 75% of its business is concentrated in traditional mortality and financing business. This contributes significantly to the diversification of the SCOR group, as does the low volatility of the Life sector, where considerable entry barriers favour well-established players.
SCOR Global Investments is the division of the SCOR group devoted to asset management, and is composed of two dedicated entities: (i) a Group Investment Office and (ii) a regulated asset management company, SCOR Investment Partners. The Group Investment Office is in charge of all topics relating to the investment portfolio of the SCOR group. SCOR Investment Partners manages, both directly and indirectly, the investment portfolio of the SCOR group’s entities. Using the expertise initially developed to manage SCOR’s own investment portfolio, since 2012 SCOR Investment Partners has opened some of its investment strategies to third-party investors.
